The Louis N. Brockway Scholarship

The Louis N. Brockway Scholarship was established in 1979 in memory of Louis N. Brockway, Class of 1917, by his family and friends.

Even as a Chairman of the Executive Committee at the second largest advertising agency in the world at the time, Louis N. Brockway never forgot his roots. Raised in Clinton, NY, where his great-grandfather arrived in 1811, Louis came to Hamilton as a member of the Class of 1917. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in the emerging field of advertising in NYC, and was described as a “pioneer giant” in the American advertising business. He went on to become Executive Vice President of Young & Rubicam and, in 1958, was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee.

His impressive success on Madison Avenue did not pull him away from his love for Hamilton. He remained involved with his alma mater as President of the NY Alumni Association, a member of the Board of Trustees from 1951 until his death in 1979, and many other various interests on the Hill.
