  • HILLgroup Liaisons and Oral Communication experts will meet with incoming faculty on Tuesday, August 26th from 10 am to noon, as part of New Faculty Orientation. Librarians, Technology Support Specialists, and Oral Communication experts will introduce faculty to our model of coordinated course support.

  • Bret Olsen from the Mellon Foundation and Middlebury College’s Center for Educational Technology will be on campus Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23, to teach a Final Cut Pro workshop to Hamilton faculty interested in film and the use of film assignments in courses. This workshop was limited to 11 participants and is full.

  • Come to a discussion on Tuesday, May 13 in the Remote Collaboration Facility at 4:10pm on how GIS was used in Soph 265 (Social Movements: The Environment) to investigate questions of environmental justice. This demonstration will be of special interest to faculty in the social sciences wondering what could be done with desktop GIS software and how it could fit into any research and teaching which already involves the use of demographic data.

  • Dr. Mark Monmonier, Distinguished Professor of Geography at Syracuse University, will give a lecture titled "How to Lie with Maps," on Monday, April 7, at 4:10 p.m. in the Science Auditorium. The lecture is sponsored by HILLgroup and the dean of Faculty's office.

  • The fourth in a series of HILLgroup Discussions will be held on Tuesday, April 8th, at 4pm in the Christian Johnson Browsing Room. Jesse Thomas, Multimedia Specialist, Krista Siniscarco, Multimedia Assistant, and the Reference Librarians will facilitate the discussion on how to incorporate the services offered by the MPC into your courses and professional activities.

  • Sharon Britton, Library Director of Public Services and Digital Millenium Copyright Officer for the College, and Jim Helmer, Oral Communications Lab Coordinator and Lecturer in Oral Communication, using your questions and our own, will facilitate an open discussion of copyright issues, in both teaching and professional activities.

  • The second in a series of HILLgroup Discussions for Faculty and Academic Development Partners will be held on Tuesday, February 11th, at 4pm in the Christian Johnson Browsing Room. We want to hear from you! HILLgroup discussions are informal. Refreshments will be provided. Please plan on joining us.

  • The HILLgroup will be sponsoring monthly discussion groups on topics related to learning, instructional technology, and the use of information resources in college courses. The first HILLgroup Discussion Series event, Focus On What We Have Learned About Coordinated Academic Support, is Tuesday, January 28th, at 4pm in the Christian Johnson Browsing Room.

  • Faculty and academic development partners - Heard from faculty about their experiences in past and present Sophomore Seminars - Heard from academic services departments such as ITS, Oral Communications, the Library, and the Writing Center about their specialized and individually tailored services - Discussed specific questions suggested by faculty about teaching issues - Discussed how we can work together to create the optimal learning environment for the students in your classes!

  • OCCURRED APRIL 25, 2002 AT NOON in CJ 305 Donald P. Buckley, Associate Professor of Biology and Director of Instructional Technology, School of Health Sciences Quinnipiac University discussed the implications teaching with technology has for information literacy, asynchronous learning and institutional change.
