Step inside Jamea Richmond-Edwards’ studio in Detroit for an early look at the ideas and inspirations shaping her forthcoming exhibition at the Wellin Museum. Another World and Yet the Same, opening September 13, 2025, will feature a selection of existing works alongside a newly commissioned video and a suite of paintings presented in Baroque-inspired frames.
Richmond-Edwards draws from a wide range of sources—biblical stories of Exodus, the Afrofuturist cosmology of Sun Ra, and maps of both real and imagined continents—to explore narratives of migration, memory, and transformation. Her work considers how histories are carried across generations and landscapes, particularly in the face of ecological vulnerability and shifting planetary futures.
Save the date: Jamea Richmond-Edwards: Another World and Yet the Same opens Saturday, September 13, 2025 and will be on view through June 14, 2026.
