David Bird

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music

David Bird received his D.M.A. in music composition and M.A. from Columbia University, and B.M. from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He has an international career in music composition with an interdisciplinary body of work that blends acoustic composition, computer music, and multimedia art. Bird’s work has been featured at festivals such as the Gaudeamus Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands; the Wien Modern Festival in Vienna, Austria; and the Musica Electronica Nova Festival in Wroclaw, Poland. He is a founding member of the New York-based chamber ensemble TAK, and an artistic director with Qubit New Music, a non-profit group that curates and produces experimental music events in New York City. Bird has previously taught courses at Columbia University, the New School, and the Stevens Institute of Technology.
