Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Shiblee Ratan Barua obtained his Ph.D. in computational quantum chemistry from the University of Georgia in Athens. After graduation, he served as a chemistry lecturer for a year at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Originally from Bangladesh, Barua then returned there to assume a chemistry assistant professor position at North South University (NSU) in Dhaka Bangladesh. Later in 2017, he won the prestigious NASA Postdoctoral Program fellowship, and moved to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. During his four years as a NASA researcher (2017 – 21), he worked on several different research projects including Titan photochemistry, exoplanet atmospheric chemistry, and Venus sulfur chemistry. Barua looks forward to incorporating his research experiences in the chemistry courses he will be teaching at Hamilton.
