Bruce Walczyk has developed a unique approach that combines traditional martial art and performance forms and brings them into a contemporary context. This work has been presented throughout the U.S., Paris and Southeast Asia. He continues to create choreographic work blending these ideas with his current research in the martial and healing arts of Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. Walczyk is making an informational and instructional video that illustrates some of these approaches. He will return to Southeast Asia to continue his research. Walczyk earned a master’s degree in choreography from the Univeristy of California at Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree in dance from the State University of New York at Brockport.
