David C. Paris retired in December 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Professor Paris joined the Hamilton faculty in 1979 and served as the College’s vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty from 2001 to 2006. He specializes in education policy and political theory and is the author of Ideology and Education Reform: Themes and Theories in Public Education in addition to dozens of scholarly articles. Currently vice president for integrative liberal learning and the global commons at the American Association of Colleges and Universities, Professor Paris has served as a senior advisor to The Council of Independent Colleges and as executive director of the New Leadership Alliance for Student Learning and Accountability.
