Elaine Heekin has performed, choreographed, and taught contemporary dance throughout the United States. Having joined the faculty in 1985, she earned a master’s degree in dance choreography at the University of California at Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Brockport, in addition to certification in Laban Movement Analysis from the University of Seattle. Her works have been set at numerous colleges and selected for festivals in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Heekin has published several articles addressing the effects of Bartenieff Fundamentals (body therapy) on older adults, and is a certified instructor in Pilates.
