Fiorella Pizzolon earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in economics from the University of Virginia.  She also received a B.S. in economics from Universidad ORT, in her native Uruguay. Pizzolon's research interests are in macroeconomics and international finance, with a focus on monetary and fiscal policy and sovereign debt composition. She spent over a decade teaching economics and quantitative methods at the University of Virginia and Universidad ORT. Pizzolon was a research assistant at the University of Virginia, the Inter-American Development Bank, and CINVE, a Uruguayan think tank.

  • 2012-2016: Research Assistant at the Inter-American Development Bank for the Southern Cone Economic Advisor (Washington DC) and the Uruguayan Country Economist (Uruguay)
  • 2009-2012: Research Assistant at the Center for Economic Research (CINVE, Uruguay)
  • Teaching Assistant at the University of Virginia (2017-2022) and at Universidad ORT Uruguay (2008-2013)
