Nick Tackes
Visiting Assistant Professor of Religious Studies

Nick Tackes earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in religion from Columbia University, and a B.A. from Carthage College. Tackes is an ethnographer who focuses on the intersection of Hinduism, health, media, and the environment. Recently, sponsored by the Fulbright-Hays Program, Columbia University’s Institute for Religion, Culture, and Public Life, and the Hindu Temple of Antelope Valley, his research explores how large-scale religious institutions intervene in consumer culture to provide solutions to modern societal problems ranging from river pollution to COVID-19.
