Xin Xu
Visiting Instructor of East Asian Languages and Literatures

Xin Xu has her doctorate in comparative literary and cultural studies from the University of Connecticut. She received her M.A. in English and Asian studies from Seton Hall University, and a B.A. in Chinese language and literature from Fudan University (China). Xu previously taught at Loyola University Maryland where she offered courses in Chinese language, literature, and culture. Her research focuses on contemporary Chinese avant-garde poets and explores how the poets’ choice of using and representing the quotidian, in relation to (home)land, transforms the modes of lyricism and intensifies the political dimension of their discourse under the pressure of censorship, commercialism, and globalism.
