Ellen Theresa Brady ’85

Ellen Theresa Brady ’85, who overcame illness to achieve success as a student and human resources specialist, was born on Sept. 8, 1962, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of John B. and Rosemary E. Brady. She graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School before enrolling at Hamilton. Her family says she never loved school — but that didn’t show in her academic performance, which was distinguished.

A history major, Ellen Brady consistently made the Dean’s List and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors. At age 19, while a student at Hamilton, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but the challenges she faced did not deter her from finishing her degree and starting an independent life working and living in Boston. After several years in the financial field, she moved to Florida in the early 1990s to become senior human resources specialist for the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort.

Ellen T. Brady, who was living in Naples, Fla., died of cardiac arrest on Nov. 25, 2015, following her long battle with MS and its consequences. Survivors include her mother, brother, sister, niece, great-niece and great-nephew.
