  • Almost every student dreams of the opportunity to study abroad and at Hamilton it is not only possible – it’s encouraged. Hamilton’s four programs in China, India, France and Spain are popular, not only with Hamilton students, but also with students from other small liberal arts colleges. This past week the 20 students participating in Hamilton’s program in Madrid, Spain, traveled to Galicia.

  • Students in the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain program (HCAYS) began their spring semester with an orientation trip to Andalusía. They learned about history and shared cultural and culinary experiences during visits to Granada, Sevilla and other cities and towns.

  • While many Hamilton students spent Thanksgiving in study abroad programs on other continents far from home, faculty and program directors did their best to bring a bit of the American holiday to the students.

  • Students in the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain program (HCAYS) visited the Royal Gardens of La Granja. The excursion included visits to Salamanca, Segovia and a national park at the Sierra near Madrid.

  • The Hamilton College Academic Year (or semester) in Spain began its spring semester in Madrid by traveling to Andalusia in southern Spain. Over five days, HCAYS students from Hamilton, Colby, Scripps, Swarthmore and Williams visited Seville, Granada and Córdoba. The group enjoyed the history, the gastronomy and flamenco music of one of Spain’s most fascinating and evocative regions.

  • The Hamilton College Academic Year (or semester) in Spain began its fall semester in Madrid by traveling to Galicia on the Northwest Atlantic coast of Spain, where the group visited historic sites, enjoyed the gastronomy, and became acquainted with one other.  Besides Hamilton students, this year’s group includes students from Amherst, Bryn Mawr, Davidson, Harvard, Scripps, Swarthmore and Williams.

  • Hamilton alumnus Thomas Genton ‘80, counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy Madrid, Spain, hosted a reception for Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) students and staff at his official residence in Madrid on April 20. Genton, as well as colleagues and interns, addressed students about their work in the embassy.
