The Hamilton community crossed and recrossed the aisle on October 18 during the inaugural Common Ground discussion, which featured David Axelrod and Carl Rove, chief strategists and chiefs of staff for former presidents Obama and Bush 43rd, respectively, as well as moderator Susan Page, Washington bureau chief of USA Today.

Al Tillery, a professor of political science at Northwestern University spoke at Hamilton about “The Legacy of Barack Obama” in a lecture on Feb. 6.

There was not an empty seat at the Jan. 24 panel discussion in the Levitt Center 2016 Election Series, “International Challenges for the Trump Presidency: East Asia, Latin America and the Mid-East.” Government faculty Alexsia Chan, Heather Sullivan and Kira Jumet shared their analyses on how political developments around the globe might affect the Trump presidency before engaging in a conversation with attendees.

“There is rare agreement, on left and the right, that the 2016 presidential election season is looking to be a repeat of Democratic Party’s 1968 race,” began Maurice Isserman’s Reuters news service on March 7. 

In the last talk of a semester-long series on the election season, The Publius Society invited Professor Phil Klinkner of Hamilton’s Government Department to give his thoughts in “An Election Post-Mortem.”
