After he graduates from Hamilton in May, David Yu ’20 will be joining Amazon as a business analyst. He interned there last summer and shares his path to that first job.

During Hamilton’s winter break, students had the opportunity to take part in the Career Center’s “Day in the Life” shadowing program to learn more about career areas and make professional connections. Seventy-nine alumni and parents hosted 69 students for a day at their place of work. Alex Medina ’22 shadowed Hamilton parent Eric Andrews at Oracle headquarters in Silicon Valley and tells about his experience here.

For the first part of the winter, actor Kadahj Bennett ’12 has been immersed in Pass Over, with SpeakEasy Stage Company in Boston, Bennett describes the play written by Antoinette Nwandu as Waiting for Godot with a Black Lives Matter tinge. It’s a three-person production, and he’s on stage for the duration.

The original Alumni Gymnasium was completed in 1940 and was extensively renovated in 1978 to accommodate the expanded co-educational student body. The latest renovation project cost $2 million and took six months to complete.

Getting a week-long, behind-the-scenes look at a medical career, five Hamilton students shadowed doctors in different stages of their three-year residencies at a hospital near campus.

As part of its continuing Common Ground speaker series, Hamilton College is presenting three programs this semester that address significant issues in the news and in our daily conversations. All programs are free and open to the public.

Forty-four members of the Class of 2023 and 10 transfer students arrived on a cold but sunny campus on Jan. 17 to officially begin their Hamilton experience and take part in new student orientation. The College offers January admission to roughly 45 students each year to fill vacancies created by students on leave and studying abroad.

"Well, people say this a lot, but pretty much everyone you run into here is friendly. I got that vibe when I was here for my interview, and every time I’ve needed help with anything, there have been two or three people willing to offer it."
