"Inside the Floating World: Japanese Prints from the Lenoir C. Wright Collection" is an exhibition of Ukiyo-e or floating world pictures, 60 woodblock prints from the early 18th century through the late 19th century. They provide a unique glimpse of the life and art of Japan during that period. Organized by the Weatherspoon Art Museum, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the show will open on Thursday, Sept. 23, and will close on Sunday, Jan. 2, and is free and open to the public.

The following was written by Jimmy Breslin, father of Rosemary Breslin '79, and published in Newsday (June 20, 2004). Rosemary Breslin, 47, died Monday from a rare blood disease. A writer who crafted scripts for "NYPD Blue" and wrote a 1997 memoir titled "Not Exactly What I Had in Mind: An Incurable Love Story," Breslin was the third child of columnist Jimmy Breslin and the former Rosemary Dattolico, who died in 1981.

Ron Chernow, award-winning biographer, will give the Victor Johnson Lecture at Hamilton College on Thursday, Sept. 30. Chernow will present his lecture, "Alexander Hamilton: The Man Who Imagined America," in the Hamilton College Chapel at 4:15 p.m.

New York State Route 12B, the main thoroughfare into Clinton from the north, is closed about one mile north of the Village so that workers can replace a 100-year-old stone culvert. Detour signs direct traffic into Clinton via Limberlost Road (Route 5B), Route 5, and Route 233, adding about five minutes to the trip. The road is expected to reopen before Labor Day, but after students return to campus for the start of the academic year on Monday, Aug. 30. Visitors approaching campus from the south should not be affected by the closure.

Professor of Psychology Jonathan Vaughan was elected as a fellow of the American Psychological Association for 2004. The American Psychological Association is based in Washington, D.C. According to the APA Web site, the association is the largest association of psychologists in the world working to "advance psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting health, education and human welfare."

Assistant Professor of Government Yael Aronoff attended the International Society of Political Psychology annual meeting in Lund, Sweden, July 15-18. Aronoff chaired the roundtable discussions, "Eminent Scholar Panel Honoring Fred Greenstein" and "Academic Success: Mentorship and Personal Dimensions and Academic Success." She participated in the roundtable discussion "Building Networks for the Psychological Study of Leaders and Leadership." Aronoff also attended the Association for Israel Studies annual meeting in Jerusalem, Israel, June 13-17. She presented a paper, "The Political Psychology of Israeli Leaders During the Oslo Period," and was the chair and discussant for another panel, "The Language of Conflict in the Middle East."
