The annual Hamilton Pitch Competition, which is open to Hamilton students and graduates of the last decade, is an involved process from September through April. Eight start-ups participated this year, attending conferences on the ins and outs of entrepreneurship hosted by a variety of alumni.

For Rashveena Rajaram ’16, the world is indeed her oyster. Born and raised in the island nation of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, the Harvard Business School M.B.A. student and women’s financial podcast co-founder discovered her life’s work when she first ventured to Hamilton in 2012.

After graduating from Hamilton in 2016 with a major in environmental studies and minors in mathematics and Hispanic studies, Carina began her search for a job that would simultaneously suit her passions and help her grow as an individual. She landed at Jefferies and enrolled in a master’s of business administration (M.B.A.) program at NYU Stern School of Business in 2019. At Jefferies, she serves as an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainable finance research associate, allowing her to combine her passion for environmental science with business.

Sarah Izzo Fenwick graduated from Hamilton in 2015 with a major in neuroscience and a minor in religious studies. Sarah now works at Fletcher Spaght, Inc. as a healthcare strategy analyst.

When STACEY BOYD ’91 visited a refugee camp in Kenya, she met a group of girls who were educated through a program sponsored by a telecommunications company. That achievement inspired her to create an online retailer that combined business and philanthropy.

She’s become adept at whipping up a delicious breakfast for 12, and she’s proud of that, but Jana Prudhomme ’19 is also gaining ground on her future. She’s the new manager of the Arbor Inn, a B&B recently purchased by the College.

It’s reasonable to assume that an internship at a company called Embark Veterinary might appeal mostly to would-be veterinarians. But for Jason Healy ’22, the position has provided him the opportunity to dive headfirst into the financial and logistical aspects of running a business.

For many Hamilton students, a trip to the Howard Diner delivers little more than a late-night meal. But for Yenesis Alvarez ’22, it provided an unexpected academic opportunity. “I remember [during] my freshman year,” she recalled, “this random guy at the diner came up to me and was like, ‘Hey, do you want to learn about our business program?’”
