For Taylor Adams ’11, it really is about the journey and not the destination. “It” for Adams came on May 23 when he conquered Mount Everest and joined an elite club of climbers with type 1 diabetes who have summited Earth’s tallest mountain.

While many students spent a recent break at home, a group of 40 students remained on campus to participate in a rigorous two-day event designed to prepare them for careers in finance.

Through the Hamilton Alternative Break program, a group of students traveled to Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne, N.Y., over fall break to volunteer at Double H’s Comfort Camp Weekend. Double H Ranch is a SeriousFun network camp that offers year-round programs for children and the families of children with serious or chronic illnesses.

As part of the Sacerdote Great Names series at Hamilton College, students had the opportunity to have a small group question-and-answer with Tina Fey. Fey, the executive producer, head writer, and star of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning comedy “30 Rock,” visited Hamilton on Oct. 22 as the latest guest in the Sacerdote series.

Hamilton College has installed 20 electric car charging stations at various locations throughout the campus as shown on the map above. They have been available for use by the campus and community free of charge since April 15.

Sitting in the boardroom of The Whitney Museum of American Art, overlooking the West Side Highway and the Hudson River, are the students of Art History 310 and Scott Rothkopf, chief curator of The Whitney.

The Shenandoah-Kirkland Initiative hosted the second annual Haudenosaunee Social in the Events Barn on Oct. 12. Approximately 100 students, faculty, staff, and community members attended the hour-long celebration of the day and acknowledgment of the land on Oct. 14.

Near the back of the 1979 hamilton yearbook, 14 pages titled “Campus Life” feature a collection of black-and-white photos without captions, leaving it to readers to posit the who, what, why: three laughing women in silly hats, a guy at a pottery wheel, a student bent over a book at a library table, etc. The story behind a photo on page 143 belongs to David Balog ’79. He alluded to it when he was interviewed for a new and developing oral history archive of LGBTQ Hamilton alumni.

Per annual tradition, the Outing Club sent out 18 trips in a bid to put at least one Hamilton community member on the summits of each of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. The first weekend of October proved to be a fine weekend for this venture as fall foliage was in full glory. The mountains were pockmarked with brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges as complements to the vibrant green – a beautiful sight to see!
