  • Professor of Physics Philip Pearle, Assistant Professor of Physics Gordon Jones and James Ring, the Winslow Professor of Physics, Emeritus, published a paper titled "Consequence for Wavefunction Collapse Model of the Sudbery Neutrino Observatory Experiment" in the October Issue of Foundations of Physics.

  • Professor of Philosophy Robert Simon led a live chat on USAToday.com on Dec. 9. The interactive chat focused on drug use in sports. Simon is past president of the Philosophic Society for the Study of Sport and author of Fair Play. He sits on the editorial board for the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport and is also a former golf coach at Hamilton.

  • Cheng Li, the William R. Kenan Professor of Government, was interviewed by BBC World Service on Dec. 8. Li commented on the recent development of EU-China relations and its implication on the Asia-Pacific region and the United States.

  • An article published by Professor of Biology Sue Ann Miller in 2002 has been included in the American Association of Anatomists' recently launched New Anatomist special "virtual issue" on Dissection and Anatomy Education -- a collection of articles on the subject from 1998 to the present. Miller also attended the annual meeting of Sigma Xi, the international scientific research honor society, in Montreal in November.

  • Susan Rosenberg, who had been invited to Hamilton College as an artist-in-residence with the Kirkland Project, has decided to withdraw.

  • As President Bush puts Social Security restructuring at the top of his list of second-term priorities former Federal Reserve Economist and Hamilton College professor Ann Owen warns: "When considering Social Security reform, we need to keep in mind that our current system serves two distinct purposes: it is both a forced savings plan as well as a method for redistributing income to reduce poverty among the elderly."

  • Cheng Li, the William R. Kenan Professor of Government, participated in a panel discussion on the rise of China in a historical perspective in December at the Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C.  A senior official of the World Bank and the director of the Washington D.C. Office for the National Bureau of Asian Affairs also participated in the discussion.

  • Students in Music Professor Sam Pellman's Music for Contemporary Media class are presenting an online digital music concert. Presentations were created in a modern recording studio and included the uses of sound synthesizers, digital samplers and MIDI. Click on Presentation 1 and Presentation 2 to listen.

  • Cheng Li, the William R. Kenan Professor of Government, was interviewed by BBC World Service on Dec. 7. Li commented on the Chinese leadership's new plan to "reeducate" its 60 million plus members through a propaganda campaign.

  • Hamilton College formally launched a $175 million capital campaign titled "Excelsior: The Campaign for Hamilton" at a dinner for trustees, alumni, friends and supporters on Friday, Dec. 3.
