  • The English Department will host presentations by three senior honors candidates on Wednesday, May 2 at 4 p.m. in Dwight Lounge of the Bristol Campus Center. James Bentley, Christina Parker and Erin Post will present, and respondents are junior English concentrators Mike D'Alessandro, Colleen Fenity, and Theresa Willmore. Refreshments and a discussion will follow.

  • The Hamilton College Jazz Ensemble will perform on Friday, May 4 at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall. Free and open to the public.

  • "'A Lot Has Built Up': Omission and Rhetorical Realism in Dostoevsky's The Gambler," by Peter Rabinowitz, professor of comparative literature, appeared in Narrative 9, no. 2 (May 2001): 203-209.

  • Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, spoke to a capacity crowd at Hamilton College as the latest guest in the Sacerdote Great Names Series. Carter, President from 1977 to 1981, discussed human rights and the growing chasm between the rich and the poor. He said he would most like to be remembered for championing peace and human rights.

  • Hamilton College was mentioned repeatedly on C-SPAN throughout the weekend (April 28-29) as scholars discussed U.S.-China relations, Ronald Reagan, and College namesake and American statesman Alexander Hamilton.

  • Cynthia Fadem will present her Senior Fellowship project in Geomorphology: "Chronology of Landscape Evolution at Oneida Lake, New York," on Wednesday, May 2, at 3:30 p.m. in KJ Aud.

  • The third annual AIDS Hike for Life, held Sunday, April 29 at Hamilton College, raised over $28,000 for AIDS Community Resources, according to organizers. Jeannine Murtaugh said the 5K walk around Hamilton College's Root Glen drew nearly 500 participants. The $28,000 raised is a $7,000 increase from last year.

  • Lauren Ivison will present her Senior Fellowship research, "Am I My Mother's Daughter? Choices of Identity and Cultural Survival for Bolivian Indigenous Women," on Friday, April 27, at 4 p.m. in the Red Pit, KJ. The community is invited to attend.

  • The senior Chemistry majors (and one Biochemistry major) present the results of their year-long senior projects on Friday, April 27. The talks will begin at 3 p.m. in Chemistry Room 112, with refreshments served at 2:45. Presentations will be made by Beth Vogel, Greg Bemis, Shammi Dowla, Jenn Derby, Jamie McCabe and Chris Steed.

  • The Hamilton College Orchestra will perform a concert of music from the 17th through the 20th centuries on Saturday, April 28, at 8 p.m. at Wellin Hall, Schambach Center. Free and open to the public.
