The 13th annual AIDS Hike for Life 5k Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, May 1, at 11 a.m., beginning at the Babbitt Pavilion. The AIDS Hike for Life is organized by AIDS Community Resources (ACR) and is the organization's largest outreach and fundraising program in the Mohawk Valley.

The AIDS Hike for Life has been taking place since 1999 and has raised between $20,000 and $65,000 every year. The money raised at the AIDS Hike for Life goes to the Teen AIDS Task Force, a teen-centered peer leadership program that works to educate high-school students on safe and healthy relationships, and to the DIVAS (Discovering Important and Valuable Information about Self) initiative, an after-school program targeting at-risk adolescents. This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000.

A pre-event collection will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 4-7 p.m. in the Beinecke Student Activities Village and at the ACR office in Utica. More information about the AIDS Hike for Life and how to volunteer can be found at http://www.aidscommunityresources.com/aidswalk.
