A luncheon with Acting President Joe Urgo on Thursday, April 30, marks the final event in a busy year of Hamilton Alumni Leadership Training (HALT) events. Earlier this month, HALT held a week-long series of promotional events to educate the Hamilton campus about HALT and how graduating seniors can stay engaged with the College as alumni. This month's events included a presentation to Student Assembly, Trivia Night questions revolving around alumni topics, an interview in the Daily Bull with former Bull editor Brett Monroe '01, an interview with Director of Annual Giving Jon Hysell on "Ham Radio with Joe Urgo" on WHCL and a senior reception with the Alumni Council.

HALT strives to convey the importance of alumni engagement to members of Hamilton's senior class. Members are selected on the basis of their dedication to and involvement with Hamilton. HALT members learn about the inner workings of the College at exclusive events with senior administrators, the President and members of the Board of Trustees. Some of these events have included a kickoff luncheon with Vice President of Communications and Development Richard Tantillo, breakfast with Alumni Trustee George D. Baker '74, luncheon with Director of Career Services Kino Ruth, luncheon with President Joan Hinde Stewart, "The Women of Kirkland," luncheon chaired by Charter Trustee Susan Skerritt K'77 and an evening presentation by Associate Vice President for Facilities & Planning Steve Bellona.

The 2009 HALT Committee is the largest in the six-year history of HALT with 48 seniors from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, interests and majors. They are united in common goals to enhance communication between their class and the College and to take an active role in the 196-year-old tradition of Hamilton philanthropy. The current co-chairs are Eric Kuhn and Akilah Bond.

Rising seniors are encouraged to apply for next year's HALT committee. Applications are due May 1.
