Professor of Rhetoric and Communication John Adams participated in two panels, "Symposiusm on the Enactment of Civic Engagement" and "Rhetoric and Disciplinarity: Reflections after the Formation of the Alliance of Rhetoric Societies," at the 95th annual meeting of the Eastern Communication Association in Boston, from April 22-25.

At the "Symposiusm on the Enactment of Civic Engagement" panel, Adams presented a paper titled "Epideictic Rhetoric, Sites of Concord, and Civic Engagement." At the panel on "Rhetoric and Disciplinarity: Reflections after the Formation of the Alliance of Rhetoric Societies," Adams and other panelists discussed a variety of changes in the study and scope of rhetoric. Thomas W. Benson, a Hamilton alumnus of the class of 1958 and a professor at Penn State University, also participated in the panel.
