Alexandra Kontra ’15 presented a poster titled “Coastal Protection in Avalon, New Jersey: Hard and Soft Structuring from 2005 to 2014” at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section. The work Kontra presented in the Marine/Coastal Science session was based on her senior thesis with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack.
The conference was held in Bretton Woods, N.H., on March 23-25. The technical program consisted of symposia, theme, and general sessions, arranged in oral and poster format.
Kontra, the daughter of John Kontra and Lise Miller, is from Villanova, Pa., and she attended The Baldwin School prior to coming to Hamilton College. She will graduate this May with a major in geosciences and minors in biology and mathematics.
