Pushups for Hamilton
Pushups for Hamilton
Ross Griswold '07 and his alumni friends (classes of '07 and '08) got into the spirit of giving and submitted a poem written by Annie Bowler '08 to promote Hamilton's the Power of Many challenge. Ross writes, "A bunch of us were supposed to head down to DC for Paxton Ramsdell's holiday party, but got snowed into Philadelphia. We made the best of it, and raised a little money for Hamilton in the process by taking Annie's bet." The alumni succeeded in collectively doing 1000 perfect push ups. Annie donated $50 (equal to $100 after the Power of Many trustee match) to Hamilton.

The Hamilton Spirit.....

’Twas the week before Christmas and all up the coast
winter winds brought snow in records the most
From Virginia to Philadelphia, stretching right on to Brooklyn
distraught east coasters could not reach their kin

Such was the case for a group of Hamilton alumni
separated by snow banks, they just wanted to cry.
As they sat in their respective towns
thoughts of Hamilton started to turn their frowns.

With their sharp critical thinking and communication skills,
these special Continentals thought of a way to honor the college on
the hill.
And thus up through the snow drifts rang out the familiar sounds
of beers mugs clinking and smiles smiling, the Hamilton spirit they
had found!

"One thousand push ups we will do!
each one will be perfect" shouted the crew
Alexander, Alexander, we will do you proud,
Through the snow Continentals everywhere will hear us loud!"

And so as the inches mounted outside their doors
the alumni flexed their biceps and tensed their cores
with each and every push up, it all became clear
no snow storm could hinder their Hamilton cheer

'Twas the week before Christmas and snow settled from DC to Philly
These Hamilton folks decided this wintery storm was really just silly
Ninety nine percent of their fond Hamilton memories
consisted of push up competitions, chants, and nights just like these....
