Taking a break from his research in Bodhgaya, India, in January, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Abhishek Amar met with Professor of French John C. O’Neal and ITS Educational Technologist Ted Fondak. He also toured the sacred Buddhist site there with the Mystic India group organized by O’Neal.
Siddhartha Gautama, later known as the Buddha, attained enlightenment under a Bodhi tree here in the 6th century B.C.E. Some of Amar’s family members joined the Mystic India group at the most important Buddhist shrine in Bodhgaya (and in the world), the site of Buddha’s enlightenment.
