Max Majireck

Associate Professor of Chemistry Max Majireck contributed to “Alternative Synthesis and Structural Analysis of the Antioxidant and Antitumor Agent 2-(3,5-Dimethoxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-one,” an article published recently in the Journal of Chemical Crystallography.

In this work, Majireck assisted Charles Kriley of Grove City College, his former undergraduate research advisor and longtime collaborator, to characterize the structure of a compound belonging to a major class of anticancer compounds.

Majireck said the team hopes this information will “aid medicinal chemists in the synthesis and structural analysis of such anticancer compounds, which can be used as drug leads or small-molecule probes for cancer drug discovery.”
