Ann Owen, the Henry Platt Bristol Professor of Economics, was featured on a June 11  American Public Media Marketplace broadcast. Referencing U.S. Commerce Department figures that showed May retail sales were up 1.2 percent, Owen warned not to pay too much attention to monthly vacillations.

The segment titled “Good retail sales don't necessarily mean all's well” affirmed, “Taking a wider view can paint a different picture for some analysts. Many are unsatisfied with the job market, particularly the quality of jobs being created and the wages workers are earning.”

The $400 million campaign marked the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College's history.
