Paintings by Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic are included in Art Basel Hong Kong, taking place March 28 to 30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with preview days March 26 and 27. The show features the work of artists represented by more than 200 galleries around the world.
Kuharic is represented by P·P·O·W in New York. An announcement of the P·P·O·W artists whose work is included in the Honk Kong exhibition describes Kuharic’s art as conjuring “open-ended narratives, always insisting that things are different from what they seem.” Some of her recent paintings have documented the flora and fauna she has encountered on campus in what the announcement calls “kaleidoscopic memento mori paintings” which she has imbued “with the spirit of nature’s waning beauty and a resilient force of life.”
