The Hamilton College athletic department recently hired a total of nine assistants for six coaching staffs and the sports information office for the 2005-06 season.

Chris Leavenworth, Chimezie Okobi and David Szentesy are the new football assistants. Amy Quinlan joins the women's ice hockey staff while Brendon Knight will help men's hockey. The remaining assistant coaches are James "Bois" Farrar (men's lacrosse), Michelle Duncan (women's volleyball), Jillian Wyrick (men's and women's swimming) and Mike Kennett (sports information).

Leavenworth will coach the offensive linemen. He was an All-American at offensive guard for Shippensburg University. Leavenworth earned a bachelor's degree in history from Shippensburg in 2005.

Okobi will coach the defensive linemen. He was a two-time All-American at Division I-AA Stony Brook University. Okobi graduated from Stony Brook with a bachelor's degree in history and political science minor in 2005.

Szentesy will coach the linebackers. He was a three-time all-Liberty League selection at linebacker and a captain his senior year for Hobart College. Szentesy graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology and secondary education minor from Hobart in 2004.

Knight was an assistant coach at SUNY Potsdam from 2002 to 2005. He also played for Potsdam, where he recorded 64 points in 66 games, from 1998 to 2001. Knight earned a master's degree from Potsdam in 2005.

Quinlan was an assistant coach at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and a volunteer assistant at Bowdoin College this past season. She played in goal for Providence College all four seasons. Quinlan received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Providence in 2004.

Farrar taught lacrosse to children in Manchester, England, for 10 months in 2004 and 2005. He played at midfield and attack for Hampden-Sydney College all four years. Farrar helped lead Hampden-Sydney to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2003 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from the school in 2004.

Duncan coached the Perry Junior High modified team last season. She played volleyball all four years at Utica College of Syracuse University and was a team co-captain in 2002 and 2003. Duncan graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics/secondary education from Utica in 2004.

Wyrick earned 11 All-America honors while swimming at Amherst College. She was an All-American in two individual events (100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley) at the 2003 NCAA Championships. Wyrick received her bachelor's degree from Amherst in 2005.

Kennett graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in communications and rhetorical studies in 2004. He worked on several programs and segments as a member of Syracuse's HillTV and the University's radio station (WERW).
