Associate Professor of Theatre Mark Cryer has been cast in the Redhouse production of August Wilson’s Fences.

Set in the 1950s, the award-winning play is part of Wilson’s Century Cycle series of plays that highlight the Black experience in the 20th century. Cryer is playing the role of Bono, the lead character’s best friend.

Originally planned for March 2020, the show was shut down due to the pandemic. After a two-year postponement, the play opens on Friday, Feb. 25, with the first of nine performances that run through March 6 at Redhouse Arts Center on South Salina Street in Syracuse.
