The Wesleyan (19-12, 10-2 NESCAC) University baseball team swept a pair of games against Hamilton College (7-22, 1-11 NESCAC) this afternoon on a sunny day at Royce Field. Wesleyan won game one 3-1 and were victorious in game two, 18-2.
In game one Hamilton scored their only run in the first inning. Adam Lavallee (Goffstown, NH) doubled and was driven in by Jack Halas (Chelsea, MA) who beat an attempted double play by the Cardinals. Wesleyan answered back in the second when Dave Bushnell (S. Dennis, MA) scored on an error by Jamie Harrison (Hingham, MA). Wesleyan tacked on a run in the top of the seventh when Justin Vincent (Longmeadow, MA) scored on an RBI single by Josh Daniels (Berkeley, CA). Hamilton had a chance to tie the game in the sixth but Will James (S. Dennis, MA) came in and struck out Charles Spiliotis (Topsfield, MA) and Jon Fehlman (Liverpool, NY) to end the threat.
In game two Wesleyan hitters pounded out 22 hits off of Hamilton pitchers. Dave Bushnell led the attack, going 4-6 with a home run, a double, scored four times and drove in two runs. Justin Vincent went 4-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs. Jim Barletto (Hull, MA) went 3-4 with a double and two runs. Matt Goossen (Hong Kong) and Adam Lewkowicz (Cottekill, NY) scored Hamilton's runs in the fifth inning off of Wesleyan Starter Dave Vanech (Providence, RI).
