Associate Professors of Mathematics Debra Boutin and Sally Cockburn presented their joint work in a pair of talks at the Canadian Discrete and Algorithmic Mathematics Conference at the University of Montreal in May.

In their talks 'Geometric Homomorphisms, Parts I and II,' Boutin and Cockburn introduced a new relationship between pairs of networks which are given with fixed straightline drawings. This relationship pairs two networks when there is a projection from one to the other that preserves both connectedness and crossings, and is used to gather information on classes of geometric networks.
