Professor of Mathematics Debra Boutin gave a talk titled "Geometric Homomorphisms and the Geochromatic Number" at the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics Discrete Math Conference, held June 16-19 in Minneapolis.
In this talk she described a relationship between pairs of networks that are given with fixed straightline drawings that pairs two networks when there is a projection from one to the other that preserves both connectedness and crossings. In particular, her talk focused on using this relationship to classify networks by the size of the complete networks to which they are related.
