Professor of Chemistry Karen Brewer presented “Synthesis and spectroscopic studies of rare-earth doped sol-gel and nanocrystalline materials” on April 17 as part of the Chemistry Colloquium at Bryn Mawr College.
Brewer gave an overview of rare earth doped materials and discussed her current research on chelated rare earth complexes in sol-gel glasses and rare earth-doped nanomaterials, conducted in collaboration with Professor of Physics Ann Silversmith and with senior project and summer research students.
