
Brie O'Reilly '07 and Christine Mays '07 presented at the Conference for Undergraduate Research in Communication held by The Rochester Institute of Technology's Department of Communication on March 22.
Established in 2004, the conference offers students an exceptional opportunity to showcase their research pursuits and exchange ideas with their peers across New York State. Students presented their accepted papers throughout the day-long event and were given the chance to hear paper presentations on a broad range of topics such as media influence, communication on the web, technology in the workplace, freedom of expression, rhetorical questions and political communication.
Brie O'Reilly presented a portion of her senior thesis titled The Advertising Industry Logs onto the Internet. She discussed how as digital technology enhances the growth and power of the Internet, companies are finding themselves forced to rethink their approach to advertising.
Christine Mays presented a research paper from Professor Catherine Phelan's seminar course, Technology and Society. Her paper was titled The Power of Oral Communication Throughout the Evolution of Law and focused on how the oral stage maintains an indispensable presence in the twenty-first century despite advances in literary and electronic developments.
