Hamilton B. Tompkins Professor of English Literature Emeritus Austin Briggs has published an essay in the collection John Updike Remembered (Jefferson, NC: McFarland & Ço., 2017). Briggs' reminiscence of his Harvard classmate and lifelong friend is titled "John Updike's First Fan Letter."
