Associate Professor of Music Heather Buchman conducted the Musical Associates of Central New York in a Halloween Family Concert on Oct. 27 in Syracuse.  This was the first public performance of Musical Associates, the successor orchestra to the Syracuse Symphony.

Dressed as Harry Potter, Buchman led the orchestra in a program featuring the Empire State Dance Company on Chabrier’s “España” and Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain.” The orchestra accompanied narrator David Baker reading Edgar Allen Poe's poem The Raven with the somber march movement from Beethoven Symphony No. 7. The orchestra concluded the program with a costume parade for children to the theme song from Harry Potter. Buchman will also be conducting the new orchestra in education concerts around the region during the second week of November.
