Assistant Professor of Classics Jesse Weiner was recently awarded a Leadership Initiative Grant by the Classical Association of the Atlantic States.
Weiner submitted his grant proposal in collaboration with Jacques Bromberg of the University of Pittsburgh and Shivaike Shah, a London-based artist and co-founder of Khameleon Productions’ Medea Project. Khameleon is a BIPOC performance group that is adapting the ancient Greek tragedy Medea for both stage and screen. The grant will support the production of the film, which will be made available as a public access pedagogical resource.
Khameleon plans to visit Hamilton twice during the 2021-22 academic year. In the fall, the group will visit virtually with Weiner’s advanced ancient Greek course on Greek tragedy. In the spring, they will come to campus in person to conduct a screening and workshop that will be available to the entire Hamilton community.
