Assistant Professor of Chemistry Camille Jones will present "The Hydrogen Economy" as part of the Faculty Lecture Series on Friday, Feb. 1, at 4:10 p.m. in Dwight Lounge in the Bristol Center. Jones' presentation will include a discussion on the recent major research efforts to develop hydrogen as an alternative source of energy for the transportation industry.
Although widespread use of hydrogen in automobiles can potentially have great effects for reducing greenhouse gas emission, several scientific and technological issues in the production, distribution and usage of hydrogen has made the "hydrogen economy" a controversial idea. Jones will give an overview of the concept of "hydrogen economy" as well as describe the scientific and technological efforts in its development, including her own work in this area.
