Ham Trek participants compete in the swim portion of the triathlon

More than 180 Hamilton College students, staff and faculty competed in the Second Annual Ham Trek Triathlon on a warm afternoon on May 6.

Ben Delia '05 won the men's individual competition for the second straight year and smashed his course record with a time of 51 minutes, 45 seconds. The triathlon consists of a 525-yard swim, 9-mile bike and 5-kilometer run. Onno Oerlemans, an associate professor of English, finished in second place with a time of 55:30.

Katherine Hankowski '05 won the women's individual competition with a time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, 45 seconds. Jean Vicks was second in 1:12:13.

A trio of faculty members won the women's team competition with a time of 1:11:50. Professor of physics Ann Silversmith was the swimmer, associate professor of mathematics and head women's squash coach, Sally Cockburn, biked, and associate professor of French Martine Guyot-Bender ran.

Steve Morris '06 (swim), Ben Rossetter '06 (bike) and Alex Chaconas '08 (run) won the men's team competition with a time of 52:21. The mixed team winners were Eileen Starrett '07 (swim), Brook Wolcott '06 (bike) and Rob Taylor '07 (run). Their time was 52:54.
