Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Ryan Carter recently won the 2015 Lake George Music Festival international composition competition with “Too Many Arguments in Line 17” for string quartet.
Carter was also invited to be a composer-in-residence at the festival held Aug. 17-27. In that role, he worked with the musicians who performed his piece during the festival.
According to its website, the Lake George Music Festival’s mission “is to find and recruit the next generation of leading composers and promote their work to the world at large.” The annual competition is one way in which the organization promotes the continued development and dissemination of contemporary classical music.
