Roberta Krueger

Professor of French Emerita Roberta (Bonnie) Krueger recently published an article on Christine de Pizan in Genèse et filiations dans l’œuvre de Christine de Pizan. The volume, edited by Dominique Demartini and Claire Le Ninan, was published in Paris by Classiques Garnier.

Titled “La Cité des familles: Representing the family in Christine de Pizan’s Livre de la Cité des dames,” the article examines Christine de Pizan’s portrayal of women who ensure the wellbeing and survival of non-traditional families menaced by war, civil unrest, and social turmoil.

Krueger said that Christine de Pizan is considered France’s first “woman of letters” and one of the most significant writers of the late Middle Ages.
