
Lawrence Chua, postdoctoral fellow in Asian Studies, presented a paper at the annual conference of the Society of Architectural Historians in Buffalo on April 14. The paper, “Diaspora, Race, and Nation in early 20th-century Bangkok” was presented on a panel exploring the theme of diaspora in architectural history.
He also presented a paper at the annual conference of the Association of Asian Studies in San Diego on March 21-24. The paper, “The Aesthetic Citizen: Fascism, architecture, and self-formation in mid-20th century Thailand” was part of a panel that examined historic formations of the self in Southeast Asia.
