The Central New York Parkinson's Grouprecently donated 17 blue bird houses to the Hamilton College Golf Course, tohonor spring and new beginnings.
Parkinson's disease is a chronic neurological disease which usually begins inmid-life. According to some estimates, 50,000 Americans discover they haveParkinson's every year, including boxer Muhammad Ali and Attorney General JanetReno. The cause of the disease is unknown.
Nationally, Parkinson's groups are lobbying for greater public awareness ofthe disease in efforts of finding a cure. Members of the local group thatparticipated in the bird house donation to Hamilton are Walter and SandyHeugel, Bruno and Lonnie Piretti, Gordon Jeffrey and Baden and Betty Mudge.
