Director of Counseling and Psychological Services David Walden was a co-presenter of a recent webinar hosted by the Association of College Counseling Center Directors. Walden, along with three colleagues from SUNY Oswego, Western Carolina University, and Union College, presented “Navigating the Current Landscape in Collegiate Mental Health.”
The webinar explored some of the many challenges faced by college and university mental health professionals, both in their role and their responsibilities. From increased levels of burnout to high levels of attrition and changing expectations about how mental health is addressed on campus, the group provided recommendations about how institutions can strategically align roles, resources, and services to retain staff and help sustain the profession.
