World Bank
Students in the Semester in Washington Program visited the World Bank on December 11. The visit began with a luncheon and an overview of the mission and operation of the Bank by Hasan Tuluy P'08, director, Operations and Country Services Department Middle East and North Africa Region. Students then participated in two sessions led by World Bank staff, one on the role of information technology in economic development and one on issues of governance.

Each semester, the Semester in Washington brings 16 students and a faculty member to live, learn, and work in the nation's capital. Students receive four Hamilton course credits for an upper level seminar, the intern participant observation seminar, an independent research project, and an internship. Recent internships have included the White House, the State Department, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the International Trade Commission, the Brookings Institution, Fox News, ABC News, CNN and a variety of House and Senate offices and committees. Students live in spacious apartments in the vibrant and convenient neighborhood of Woodley Park.

The program is open to second semester sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all concentrations. The application process for the Fall, 2007, and Spring, 2008 program will take place early in the Spring, 2007 semester. For more information about the program, contact Professor Eismeier or Professor Anechiarico of the Government Department.
