Associate Professor of Philosophy Katheryn Doran organized, chaired and participated in a panel on “Teaching Philosophy in Non-Traditional Settings” at the meeting of the Eastern Division of the American Philosophical Association (APA). The 111th annual Eastern Division meeting was held Dec. 27-30 in Philadelphia.

Founded in 1900, the APA has three divisions – Central, Eastern and Pacific – that hold annual meetings bringing together philosophers to present research and exchange ideas.

According to its website, the APA’s mission is to promote “the discipline and profession of philosophy, both within the academy and in the public arena” and to support “the professional development of philosophers at all levels and works to foster greater understanding and appreciation of the value of philosophical inquiry.”
