Doug Ambrose, the Carolyn and David M. Ellis ’38 Distinguished Teaching Professor of History, recently led a tour of the exhibition Hamilton’s Final Act: Enemies and Allies at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. The event was part of the museum’s Food for Thought series.
The exhibition, which runs through the end of the year, features documents relating to the fateful duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Original correspondence, drafts of correspondence, and reports of the duel are included. Also on display is artwork and sculpture from the Fenimore’s collection that highlights the relationship between Hamilton and his peers and helps tell the story of the duel.
