Carol Drogus and Steve Orvis, both associate professors in Hamilton's Government department, have been promoted to the rank of professor. The announcement was made by Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty David Paris. Both appointments are retroactive to July 1, 2003.

In a memo to the Hamilton community Paris wrote, "Professor Drogus is an accomplished and innovative teacher who recently received both the Class of 1963 Award for new course development and the Christian Johnson Foundation Grant for faculty development of teaching materials.  Her research and writing on Latin America, women, religion and social movements have garnered accolades from fellow scholars.  She has served on several committees and currently serves on the Committee on Academic Policy.

"Professor Orvis has been described by one student as  the archetype of a liberal arts professor and is a respected scholar in the field of economic and political development in Africa.  In addition to his teaching and research commitments, Steve has made numerous contributions to the life of the College, including serving two years as chair of the CAP."
